Puppy Buyers Questionnaire
We are as particular about where our puppies go as you should be about who you buy
from, so if you are interested in a dog from DEBEAU DANES please fill out this
questionnaire. Please give these questions a lot of thought and answer them as
completely as you are able. These puppies are family and have been given the best care
while with us. We want only the best possible homes for the ones we can't keep.

1. How did you hear about our Great Danes? Friend,
internet ad (which site), web site search, etc.
2. Why are you interested in buying a Great Dane? Have you had
any experience and/or exposure to Great Danes?
3. What do you know about the breed? Care requirements including grooming, nutrition,
exercise, attention and training needs of a Great Dane.
4. What type of Great Dane are you looking for? Sex, pet or show dog, color? If the preferred sex
is not available would you consider the other?  If this is a show puppy, will you be showing
yourself or hiring someone to show? Have you ever bred a dog/dogs before? Please explain.
5. What breeds of dogs have you owned in the past?  How long did you own them and what
happened to them? Have you ever had to put a pet down (euthanized)? What problems (health,
training, behavior, etc.)  have you had with previous dogs?
6. Do you currently have other pets? If yes, what types, ages, and temperament? Are they spayed or
neutered?
7. Are there any children in your household? If yes, how many and what ages?
8. Do you rent or own your home? If you rent, have you checked with your landlord about getting a
Great Dane and will you be able to provide proof of permission?
9. Do you have a fenced yard or a secure area where  a puppy can exercise without fear of injury or
loss? If not, would you be willing to do so before bringing home a new puppy/dog or build a secure run for
the puppy/dog to be in when not being safely supervised for its safety? Do you have a pool? Is it fenced?
10. Do you own a crate? Are you willing to crate your puppy for short periods of time? Have you thought
about how you will housebreak your new puppy?
11. Where will you keep your puppy during the daytime and at night? Where would the puppy/dog be
housed during the day if no one is home (i.e. loose in the house, crated, kennel, yard, confined to a
specific room)? Where will the puppy/dog sleep at night?
12. How many hours a day will your puppy spend alone?
13. How much do you expect to pay for a puppy? When are you looking to purchase  a puppy? How do
you plan to get the puppy/dog to you? (pick up, ship, etc.)?
14. If this puppy is purchased as a family companion and is not going to be bred, do you agree to have it
spayed or neutered and submit to us a veterinarian certificate as proof of surgery for our records?
15. Do you travel frequently for work and/or pleasure? What arrangements would you make for your
pet(s) in your absence?
16. What type of training do you have planned for your puppy? Will you be willing to go to obedience
classes? If no, how are you planning to train your new puppy? Have you completed any CKC and/or AKC
titles on other dogs? If so, please explain?
17. Are all the members of your family in agreement/committed on getting a Great Dane puppy? If "no" or
"don't know",  please explain. Do any members of your family have any types of allergies to dogs?
18. Are you aware of the possible health problems in the breed?
19. Do you have a Veterinarian that you feel you can trust the health of your puppy? Please provide name
and phone number for a reference.
